Not much of an update, but here it is:
week 39: Whether you give birth tomorrow or next week, it's pretty much all the same for your baby, who is now truly R-E-A-D-Y to face the big bright world outside of your womb. Speaking of wombs, your body is priming up for the big moment and hopefully, you're as prepared mentally as you can be. Your baby is well stocked up on fat, all their organs have put on the finishing touches. Here's hoping your child is already in the birthing position and basically just "hanging out" waiting for that elusive moment when all systems synchronize in your body to trigger the labor process.
Just "hanging out" and waiting... There's only so much laundry and organization I can do in preparation, we just need the baby now! All I hear at work is "You're STILL here!! When are you due? And you're still working?" We have another midwife appointment tomorrow, again to just check in and make sure everything is still good. I'm still having some braxton hicks contractions, but they're not doing anything to move labor along. We tried all the old wives tales of how to start labor...spicy food, long walks, funny movies, sex, etc. So far, nothing's working! We just have to wait until he's ready. I was stubborn too and didn't want to come out, but when I was ready, it was quick, so hopefully Kermit takes after his mommy.
On a totally different subject, here's a picture from work on halloween of all the M&M's:
