Things are going really well. As you can see from my previous post, Jasper is smiling up a storm. He wakes up and looks at me and his face lights up with a big smile spreading across his face! it's the best! He loves standing up, with one of us holding him of course, but it's really just for balance, he likes using his legs. He looks around a lot and is starting to be able to focus on things further and further away. He's started making the cutest cooing sounds and is almost laughing now. I'm amazed watching him discover things. I'll see him moving his arms or his hands and at first they will be all over the place and then he starts to realize that he can reach for something or purposely bring his hand to his mouth, or something like that. It's great to watch him figure things out like that, realizing that what he does can be intentional.
We've had a lot going on these last couple weeks. Tim's birthday was December 19th and I made him a carrot cake (yes, i can take care of a baby and make cake!). We went to Tim's mom's for dinner to celebrate but Reilly ended up getting sick and we left before it was time for cake, so we ate it at home the next day!
Aunt Hannah and her family came to visit for Tim's birthday. She and Morgan spent some time getting to know Jasper's new Kermit puppet.
My friend Ashia, from high school, was in town visiting from DC and we got to see eachother for the first time in 12 years!! She has a 2 year old daughter, Madeline (in the picture below, reading with Reilly) and is pregnant with a boy on the way!! it was great to catch up and talk about parenting and figuring out life. It was a great visit, but too short! Hope to do it again soon!
We got to celebrate Chanukah, at home and with my parents at their house. Reilly gets very excited about lighting the candles and this year, his favorite song was Herman the Chanukah Candle (sung to the tune of Rudolf the red nosed reindeer!).
Reilly got some new pajamas from my parents and wore them non-stop during his vacation from school. He loves them and luckily my parents got them big so he can wear them for a long time!
We spent Christmas at Tim's mom's house but I didn't take any pictures and haven't seen any that were taken by others. Christmas isn't big in our house. We don't have a chimney so Santa can't come visit us there!
